Femtocells by Vodafone

The Britain’s best mobile network Vodafone looking to add to that reputation by becoming the first British network to offer femtocells to customers. Aimed at giving 3G coverage a boost inside buildings the femtocells will be provided free to contract customers. The actual device itself is around the same size as a router and plugs into the telephone line.

Research in Motion announced Blackberry 9630 Tour

RIM(Research in Motion) announced Blackberry 9630 Tour, a Qwerty device supporting both CDMA EVDO Rev. It is also having 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, autofocus and video capture. It is having HTML enabled web browser, 3.5 mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.0, supports microSD upto 32 GB card. It would be available in North America from this summer onwards.

Sony Ericsson back with New Phones

Sony Ericsson introduced two, new, greener phones,Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart and NaiteToday Sony Ericsson announced a new program that it hopes to use to reduce its CO2 emissions in its internal operations 20% by 2015, and reduce its entire CO2 emissions 15% by 2015.

The C901 GreenHeart and Naite help accomplish this by using 90% less paper materials in their packaging and a smaller packaging footprint, which in turn leads to lower transportation CO2 emissions. Sony Ericsson has also eliminated hazardous materials from the phones, uses 80% recycled plastics and ships the phone with a low-power charger. All this combined reduces the CO2 footprint of the C901 GreenHeart and Naite by 15% compared to Sony Ericsson’s normal production phones.

Sony Ericsson didn’t provide many details about the handsets’ specifications, but did say the C901 GreenHeart and Naite will hit the market till 2010 and 2011, respectively. The GreenHeart initiative is being launched with the C901 and Naite, but Sony Ericsson plans an entire portfolio of GreenHeart devices.

12 Megapixel phone by Samsung

Samsung announced it's new 12 megapixel camera phone Pixon12. It displays a full 3.1- inch AMOLED touch display and advanced camera features which includes a dedicated camera power button, touch-based autofocus, fast shutter speeds, instant scene changing modes, Xenon flash and 28mm wide angle lens.

Pixon12 captures video at 30 frames per second at 720 x 480 pixels. It has quad-band GSM/EDGE, 900/2100 dual-band HSDPA/HSUPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and FM radios on board. It goes on sale in Europe late in June.
